This September saw the launch of the Staffordshire Climate Expo, which was supported by nearly 200 businesses and attended by more than 400 delegates.
The event, held on the 30th September at Uttoxeter Racecourse, was the first of its kind for the area and focussed on partnership working for decarbonisation. The Expo brought together industry, academia, Government, and stakeholders to showcase current net-zero innovations, challenges and solutions.
Keynote Speaker Kate Humble, TV Presenter and Author, said of the event, “What Kate and her team are doing is so utterly inspiring and uplifting – Globe really does shine a light on what is possible for anyone to achieve given the right passion, energy and determination.”
The nature and wildlife presenter gave an inspirational keynote speech to a packed out audience. Painting a picture of the current realities of climate change, she pressed local leaders and delegates at the event to take the necessary actions to address the issue, before interviewing our sponsors panel, which included Adam Whitehouse CEO of TMT First, Peter Ellse CEO of Cosy Direct and Prof. Zoe Robinson Director of Institute for Sustainable Futures at Keele University.
The event also saw speakers from NatWest Group, Ecotricity, Centre for Alternative Technology, SUEZ, IEMA and many more, all of whom helped to depict the importance of action and the steps that can be taken.
The Globe Group Founder and Managing Director Kate Copeland, added “The climate crisis can feel like such an overwhelming problem to tackle but the partnerships forged at today’s event makes every little step towards a solution a bit more manageable. We hope that these partnerships continue to deliver decarbonisation efforts and look forward to hearing the successes that arise from today’s event.”
