Biography
Ruth is a landscape geographer with more than 30 years’ experience in the fields of climate change, digital mapping, landscape analysis and environmental research. She has written widely about UK landscapes and has collaborated with scientists across the globe. She previously worked for the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology at Monks Wood, Cambridgeshire where she worked on habitat restoration and species diversity. Recently she returned to her roots in North Staffordshire and has been working as a Professor of Applied Geography at Staffordshire University in Stoke-on-Trent where she has taught climate change impacts to 100s of students.
As an educator based in one of the most socially disadvantaged cities in the UK she is acutely aware of the importance of equitable access to nature and the need to create a liveable and hopeful future for the next generation.
